Would you like a shot at winning a limited edition 2003 AtariAge Holiday GreetingCart? AtariAge is giving away seven such carts to seven lucky recipients in this latest contest. What is the 2003 AtariAge Holiday GreetingCart? It's a cartridge with a unique, holiday-themed label created by artist Dave Exton, which shows a rendition of the same image when plugged into an Atari 2600, courtesy of Interleaved ChronoColour™ technology. These carts are individually numbered and there are only two ways of getting one: By placing an order of $50 or more in the AtariAge Store (details to be announced soon), or by participating in this contest and winning one for free!

So, you ask, what's the contest about? The object of the contest is to take a picture of an Atari 2600 cartridge in an environment appropriate for the game's name. For instance, you might take a picture of Frostbite outside an igloo, or Polaris by a submarine, or Warlords outside an old English castle. Given the large library of Atari 2600 titles, finding a game in your 2600 library and an appropriate subject to team it up with should be easy!

The contest will run until Midnight, December 31st, 2003. That should afford you plenty of time to grab a few games from your 2600 library and go hunting for appropriate scenes with your camera!

Here are some games whose titles lend themselves well to this contest, but by no means is this list comprehensive. Use your imagination and the possibilities are endless!

While there are many obvious pairings for these and other games, we encourage you to be creative and surprise us with your photos! This contest is a means to take a break from the sometimes hectic month of December and have some fun, and with any luck, you may also win a cool cartridge to add to your 2600 collection.

How To Enter

To enter, please follow these simple guidelines:

Take a picture using a digital camera or film camera showing a 2600 cartridge in an environment relative to the game's name or subject matter (as described above). Images created by digital manipulation ("Photoshopped") will be rejected!

The cartridge must be identifiable in the image.

You may submit up to five entries for the contest. We will permit you to replace an existing entry with a new entry if you have already submitted five entries.

In order to encourage a variety of entries, only the first photo submitted for any given "scenario" will be accepted. If a picture of a game is taken in front of a given landmark (for instance, Fenway Park baseball stadium), we will not accept a second entry picturing that same landmark. Likewise, if someone takes a picture of the game Slot Machine in front of a real Slot Machine, we will not accept another entry depicting the same. We encourage you to look at the submissions (which will be updated frequently) before going out of your way to take a photo.

If you'd like to include a short description of your photo's subject, we'll include the description along with your photo.

Contest entries will be posted to this page upon receipt, identified by the person who sent them in.

If possible, please submit pictures in a resolution of 1024 x 768 or greater. If you are scanning photos, please scan them at 200dpi.

Submissions must be sent to [email protected]. If you take pictures with a film camera and have no means to scan your photos, they may be mailed to: AtariAge, PO Box 27217, Austin, TX 78755-2217. Submissions mailed in must be postmarked by December 31, 2003, and received no later than January 7, 2003.

The contest runs until Midnight, December 31st, 2003. Once all the entries have been received, we will first select two entries that we feel are the most interesting and creative among those received, and then we'll select another five random entries from those remaining. Only one cartridge will be awarded per entrant, but if you enter multiple times (up to five!) your chances of winning are increased. Assuming, of course, that not everyone submits five entries.

Feel free to look through our 2600 Rarity Guide to get some ideas! You can also discuss the contest with other AtariAge visitors in our Contests Forum. Good luck!
