Xevious was not available for the 2600 or 5200 (at least in released form), so picking up this quality 7800 arcade port was a no-brainer back in the day. Even though it is a little plain, it is still the best 2D shooter on the system. Impressively, it includes all of the enemies and stages of the arcade version. Even many Xevious veterans prefer the Atari 7800 version as it is actually quite tough. The crosshairs are closer to the ship, making it more difficult to safely take out ground units. There are four difficulty levels to choose from. Those who prefer to use a 2600 joystick instead of a 7800 controller can fire both bombs and lasers with a single press of a button.
